Letter from the President
Dear Friends of Education:
I am excited to serve as president of the Bay Education Foundation for the 2017-2019 term. I got involved with the Bay Education Foundation by mentoring a young man from 2008 to 2013 in the Foundation's Take Stock In Children program. Through that experience, it quickly became apparent to me how critical mentoring is for the success of our Take Stock in Children program recipients. Since my initial involvement with the BEF, I’ve mentored several young men in other programs and continued to be involved with the foundation though participation as a board member.
I am a firm believer in education being one of the greatest tools we can give a young person to improve their chances for success in life. The foundation does this through scholarships to students and Bay District Schools staff, through classroom grants for teachers to improve the classroom experience for their students, and playing a role in Teacher of the Year, Support Employee of the Year, Tom Barefield Science Fair, History Fair, MathCounts and other academic excellence programs.
I’m the proud father of four wonderful children. My desire is to give other children in Bay County who might come from situations where attending college doesn’t seem possible that option and to support Bay District Schools to the best of our ability.
Time, treasure, and talent from hundreds of supporters make our work possible. Please join us as we work to achieve our mission of promoting excellence in education. We welcome participation from all parts of our community. Please call 850-767-4111 for more information.
